My sister and I took a little road trip yesterday up to New Hampshire to take a tour of the
Canterbury Shaker Village.
It was a scenic drive with farmhouses, small villages and rolling hills.
Once we arrived we had a savory farm style lunch at the
Shaker Box Lunch.
We ate outside and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, pure bliss…
We then toured most of the buildings at our own pace and learned about this peaceful community of skilled, ingenious crafters, gardeners, and faith loving folks.
We came away in awe of them.
The Shakers were the first to package seeds.
I came away with a few little treasures.
“ 'Tis a gift to be simple,
'Tis a gift to be free,
'Tis a gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
It will be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gained,
to bow and to bend, we will not be ashamed
To turn, turn, will be our delight,
'Til by turning, turning, we come round right. ”
I would highly recommend visiting this quaint little village in Canterbury, NH.
Blessings, Bonnie
