Your photos are so beautiful that they should be in a book! One is as wonderful as the next. New England is certainly one of the most lovely places in the U.S. -- my relatives settled in Maine and Mass. way back when -- and I still have some family there. I do love to visit that whole area..... it is especially beautiful in the fall. Thanks for sharing your talents....

Thank-you! I'm not an historian, but I do believe they were used for weather purposes (like a shutter would be used) and also maybe for intruders as well. Blessings, Bonnie
