Murals~”Don’t be afraid to paint!”

~*~

I’ve been in many beautiful homes with these gorgeous Rufus Porter (folk art) style murals. Thinking it would be too expensive to have a professional artist come in and do one for me…I then put the thought out of my head.

Recently I was over my good friend’s home (Maria Cardillo), and as I was admiring her mural and sighing, my daughter who was standing next to me then said to me “ I can do that, I’ll paint one for you.” A rush of happiness came over me!

The next day we headed to Michaels http://www.michaels.com/ craft store and bought an assortment of acrylic paints and brushes.

Ashley then painted on paper a rough sketch of her design, soon after the painting began.

I love it even more knowing that my daughter painted this for me.

The one thing about paint is this…it’s just paint, if you don’t like it, you can always paint over it!

Don’t be afraid to paint!

Maine

The Way Life Should Be”

I must say this quote says it all!

~*~*~*~

My family and I needed a mini escape, so we took our boat and headed inland for 3 days to Lake Cobbosseecontee, phew, that name is a tongue twister!, say that 5 times fast!

I captured some beautiful scenery as well as my very first eagle spotted perched way up in a pine!!

When I hear that distinct call of the loon echo across the lake, I know I’m in Maine.

As we trolled around the shoreline we heard a loud screech from up above…it was this eagle peering down at us!

The stillness of the morning mist as it hovers over the lake, all you hear are the faint sounds of the loons crying in the distance…

This osprey was sitting on the highest tree on a tiny remote island, very impressive!
